We thought we would do something fun to help get through the 4-week Ontario lockdown & kick off bike season while we aren’t able to do any in-person events. We’re offering a fun, inclusive online fitness challenge for you to stay motivated during this lockdown, get your bike fitness on point early and WIN PRIZES!
Challenge will start Sunday April 4th and end Saturday May 1st. This is one you do on your own but it allows you to have the camaraderie of others and the ability to even join each other virtually through messenger for an at-home workout. You can join in at any time but the earlier the better because the later you leave it the later you start! Also, the less points you’ll be able to accumulate.
You don't need anything special. If you don't have a bike right now, run or walk. If you don't have weights, pick up something heavy in your house...back packs, soup cans, detergent containers, children...
- Go through the points system to see what each activity is worth. We are a riding group, so activities are bike focused but if there are other options you just cannot live without, please message and we can look at it.
- Look at options to gather your source of proof, whether it be Garmin, Strava, Fitbit or your phone on Hyper lapse. We get that not everyone has fancy gadgets, so we aim to find a way for everyone to participate.
- Do your chosen activity!
- Add your points and activity to the challenge FB messenger thread. Each time you do an activity add it to the thread & attach your proof pic. Keep a running total as you add to it, so you aren't scrambling at the end.
- Keep track on your own too - journal, album, whatever works. If things are close or tied, we may ask for it. Please check this post a few times in case we need to edit it. We’ll pin it so that it’s under “announcements”.

A little background:
Along with being an Ambassador for Liv Cycling and Giant Barrie, another hat that Shannon Mathieson wears is that of a business owner and Coach. She has been a Personal Trainer & Fitness Instructor for 17 years and have been running her own business - Collingwood Bootcamp since 2012; where she does small group functional fitness training. Her Partner-in-Crime (and the owner of Giant Barrie) Amanda is an avid gym enthusiast who has also been into fitness for several years and has just recently built her own enviable garage gym at the bike shop. So, if you’re new to the fitness thing, you’re in good hands!
